Preparation

How to prepare for your test

Fasting tests

For fasting blood sugar and lipid profile, avoid food for 8–12 hours. Water is allowed.

Urine samples

Collect a midstream sample in the sterile container we provide, ideally the first urine of the morning.

Stool samples

Use a clean, dry container and deliver the sample to the laboratory within one hour where possible.

Medication

Carry a list of your current medication — some drugs affect results and the clinician needs to know.

Children

Bring the child's health booklet and, if possible, feed them after the sample is taken.

Previous results

Bring earlier results so the clinician can compare trends over time.
