Warning signs — come immediately

Do not wait until morning if you notice these.

• Chest pain, breathlessness or collapse
• Heavy bleeding or bleeding in pregnancy
• Convulsions or loss of consciousness
• High fever in a baby or a child who will not feed
• Severe abdominal pain or persistent vomiting
• Serious injury, burns or deep wounds
• Reduced or absent baby movements in pregnancy

What happens on arrival

You are triaged, your vital signs are taken, and the clinician on duty assesses you. Tests and treatment start immediately where needed.

Admission or referral

If you need admission we prepare a ward bed. If your condition needs a higher level of care we stabilise you and arrange referral.

Maternity emergencies

Labour and pregnancy emergencies are seen at once — maternity services run 24 hours at both branches.

Dental emergencies

Severe toothache, dental abscesses and broken teeth can be reviewed for urgent pain relief.
